Steering Committee Meetings

The steering committee, a group comprised of representatives from each of the local jurisdictions, typically meets every second Thursday of the month at 9:30 a.m. at the City offices.  Citizens are welcome to attend.

Public Meetings

The first public meeting took place on May 14, 2008 at the public high school.  During this meeting, over 50 community members participated and provided opinion on the initiative and the development of the plan.  Specifically, participants received a presentation on the general purpose and proposed concept of the initiative, which was followed by a question and answer period and a break-out group mapping exercise.  During the mapping exercise, participants were asked the following questions:

  1. What areas should be preserved as rural/natural lands?
  2. What three natural or agricultural areas are most worth preserving?
  3. What type of land uses do you consider urban and should be in or near the City?
  4. Where would you like to see urban development?
  5. Where should the Urban Growth Management boundary line go?
  6. Within the Urban Growth Management Area, what areas should be developed first?

The maps that the groups developed are currently being digitized and the feedback is being compiled for discussion at the next steering committee meeting.  This information will also be presented and discussed at a future public meeting.

Second Public Meeting

The second public meeting took place on October 28, 2008 at 6:30 pm at the high school.  At this meeting, a preliminary copy of the plan was presented and members the Steering Committee answered questions from the community.
